Nicknamed “the starfish” due to its distinctive starfish-shaped terminal, the airport began operations on Sept. 26, 2019.
Located about 46 km south of Beijing’s city center, the CN¥80 billion (US$11.4 billion) facility features a 700,000-square-metre terminal, the world’s largest single-building airport terminal.
Covering an area of 50 square kilometers, Vietnam’s Long Thanh International Airport is set to replace Beijing Daxing as Asia’s fourth-largest airport when it begins commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.
