Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort opens: A cheerful and eerie-ful spell is being colorfully cast at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney District, too, as well as the hotels near the famous theme parks. Halloween is in the air, beginning Aug. 22, with all of the pumpkin-y decorations and churro-tastic treats you’re craving. Nighttime sights — think “villainous visions and haunting tunes” — and cute character costumes add to the autumn-adorable atmosphere. It all disappears, into vapor, Oct. 31.
El Segundo Art Walk: Eye-catching murals, paintings full of zazz-a-tude, live music, and plenty of opportunities for random hobnobbery, if you’re feeling it? This popular get outside, get with community, and get cultural event is all about soaking in summer vibes and savoring plenty of interesting and memorable art and tunes. There’s a map on the site, and helpful suggestions (if you’d like to know where to go to bask in the beauty), so check it all out now. The date? Aug. 23 from 3 to 9 in the evening.
San Marino Motor Classic: August is known for fancy wheels up around Monterey, but Southern California has its own snazzy show right at lovely Lacy Park. A fabulous fleet of luxury, showy, and vintage cars will be on sun-catching display Aug. 24, and a general pre-sale ticket is $45. There’s a “Symphony of Cars” on Saturday, Aug. 23 — that’s a separate ticket — and the beneficiaries? Lend a paw to the Pasadena Humane and the Rotary Club of San Marino.
DOGust Birthday Celebration: It makes shaggy and sweet sense that so many canine conventions are on the upcoming calendar. After all, National Dog Day is Aug. 26 and people who adore pooches are eager to honor their animal companions. The Wallis Annenberg PetSpace will do just that on Aug. 24 when a full-on birthday party for shelter dogs takes tender-hearted place. Photo opps, complimentary treats, and more are part of the Playa Vista day; do let the team know you and your canine cutie will be there.
BBQ Day at Smorgasburg LA: Go “Around the World” and sup upon a kicky kaleidoscope of barbecue delights at the free-to-enter ROW DTLA market. The date? It’s a Sunday thing, so be there Aug. 24. Chow down on a host of dishes from Japan, New Mexico, Texas, and Hawaii, too, while “exclusive specials” and some innovative partnerships up the well-spiced, well-sauced flavor. Pups should stay home, keep in mind, and if you’re not a BBQ-ist? There are other fab foods to find.
