Firefighters from the Ayalon station and the district hazardous materials unit are operating Sunday morning at Ben Gurion International Airport following a report of a hazardous materials incident.
The Fire and Rescue Service stressed that the incident is unrelated to Operation Roaring Lion, the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran.
“A short time ago, a report was received regarding a package in a shipment from which smoke began to emerge,” a Fire and Rescue Service statement read. “Upon arrival, all personnel in the area were immediately evacuated to prevent contact with or exposure to the substance.”
“The district hazmat unit has completed initial monitoring operations to identify the nature of the material and is working to remove it.
“The incident is fully under control. At this stage, no injuries are reported.”
