Having great crew members is something that can really make or break your cruise.
But there are some things passengers do that are less than ideal and actually end up making the job harder for cruise workers.
Former cruise worker Lucy Southerton recently shared one thing you shouldn’t do in your cabin, as it is particularly annoying for housekeepers.

In a clip on her YouTube channel Cruising As Crew, Lucy said housekeepers (and really, this applies to both cruises and hotels) hate it when guests leave their cabin messy and cluttered.
“Ultimately, as a housekeeper, their job is to clean – to dust, to make sure the bed sheets are clean – and not to tidy,” Lucy said.

“It’s really annoying when you go into a passenger’s cabin and you have to make the bed but they have left all of their belongings on the bed.”
This means that before they can actually clean and make your bed, they have to spend time getting everything off it.

“And obviously you can’t just throw it on the floor because passengers would complain, quite rightly,” Lucy said.
“But if making the bed should take you 20 minutes, it’s now going to take them 30 minutes because they have also got to fold all the clothes.”
It’s simple, really, Lucy stressed: “Just remember housekeeping’s job is to clean, not to tidy, tidying is still your responsibility.”
It comes after “poor bed-making etiquette” was also called out by a member of the cleaning staff at a holiday park.
Leaving the room relatively tidy when you check out should be a no-brainer, but there is one common act housekeeping staff would prefer you didn’t do, even if you think you’re helping.
In a column for The Sun, the worker wrote: ”It goes against everything we were taught when we were kids, but before you leave, please don’t make the beds.
“Stripping them is far more helpful to the housekeeper.
“It saves so much time.”
