A Princess Cruises ship rescued four people during a Caribbean cruise.

Regal Princess “responded to a small vessel in distress and safely rescued four individuals at sea” on Feb. 23, the cruise line said.

“All four individuals were brought onboard and were evaluated by the ship’s medical team,” Princess told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “Their safety and well-being remain our immediate priority.”

The ship was sailing from Galveston, Texas, to Cozumel, Mexico at the time. The ship is currently sailing a week-long Western Caribbean cruise that began on Feb. 22, according to CruiseMapper.

“Consistent with international maritime obligations, individuals rescued at sea are cared for onboard and transported to the ship’s next scheduled port stop, where they are received by the appropriate local authorities and support services,” Princess continued. The company did not identify the people who were rescued.

The cruise line extended “its sincere appreciation to the Captain, and crew of Regal Princess for their swift response, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safety.”

The news comes after a Carnival Cruise Line ship rescued five people from a “small vessel in distress” during a Caribbean cruise earlier in February.
