The change in rules was revealed by the president of NAV, quoted by Correio da Manhã (CM), who also considered that the solution to the noise problem will involve the construction of the new airport.

In an interview with the Lusa news agency, Pedro Ângelo reveals that the routes will be slightly diverted, requiring “a more demanding climb gradient for aircraft taking off from runway 02 so that the altitude at which they fly over populated areas and residential neighbourhoods is at a higher flight level.”

The head of NAV also says that it is not necessary to have an airport so close to the city centre and defends the construction of Luís de Camões Airport, in Alcochete, which could replace Humberto Delgado Airport.
