AMSTERDAM- Aruba faced an unusual aviation disruption this week after a rat was discovered on board a KLM (KL) aircraft operating a scheduled service from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) to Aruba Airport (AUA).
The incident forced the airline to cancel the return flight, leaving more than 250 travelers stranded across Aruba and Bonaire. The discovery occurred while the aircraft was flying over the ocean, prompting immediate monitoring by the crew until landing.

KLM Flight Disruption
According to the airline, the rat was first noticed during the transatlantic crossing. The crew had limited operational options due to the flight’s position over open water, so the captain continued the journey to Aruba.
Passengers remained composed throughout the flight, and the rat did not interfere with any onboard service.

Passenger Impact

We don’t know how the animal got on board. The rat was discovered over the ocean. Very unfortunate for the passengers who had to experience this….The plane was flying over the ocean. The pilot didn’t really have a choice…The passengers remained calm, and the staff kept a close eye on the animal. The animal also didn’t come near the food.
