Data shows that heavy winter fog has once again caused flight delays and cancellations across northern India.

Over the past several years, weather has consistently been the single biggest driver of flight cancellations during the winter season.

In December 2022-January 2023, weather-related issues accounted for 83.8% of all cancellations.

The following winter, December 2023-January 2024, it was responsible for 73.9% of cancellations.

What are airports doing to mitigate this?

👉 Expanded CAT-III landing systems
👉 Improved crew training
👉 Refined winter operating protocols
