Pakistan Railways has decided to launch large-scale recruitment to address the shortage of train drivers across the country.
According to official sources, a total of 417 assistant train drivers will be hired.
The highest number of vacancies has been allocated to Karachi division with 182 posts, followed by Sukkur (66), Multan (51), Peshawar (33), Rawalpindi (30), Quetta (29), and Lahore (26).
Railway officials said candidates must have passed matriculation and hold a three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE).
Applicants with diplomas in Mechanical, Electrical, IT, or Automobile Technology will be eligible to apply.
Under the quota policy, 60 per cent of seats will be filled on open merit. Twenty per cent have been reserved for children of railway employees, while 10 per cent are allocated for ex-servicemen.
Additionally, 5 per cent of the quota has been reserved for minorities and 5 per cent for orphan candidates.
The recruitment drive aims to strengthen train operations and improve service delivery across Pakistan Railways.
