The Allure of the Seas recently completed 15 years of service for Royal Caribbean International after being delivered on October 28, 2010.
As a sister to the 2009-built Oasis of the Seas, the 220,000-ton ship was built at the STX Europe Shipyard in Turku, Finland.
Surpassing its sister ship by a slight margin, the vessel debuted as the world’s largest cruise ship and spent its inaugural season sailing to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
With cruises departing from Royal Caribbean’s then-new cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale, the Allure offered a series of seven-night cruises to either the Western or the Eastern Caribbean.
The maiden season was highlighted by visits to Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private island destination on the north coast of Haiti.
After several years sailing from Port Everglades, the Allure later debuted in new homeports, including Galveston, Port Canaveral, and Miami.
The vessel also operated a summer season in the Western Mediterranean, with itineraries departing from Spain and Italy in 2015.
While another season in the region was cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020, the ship returned to Europe this year for a second time in the Mediterranean.
Before kicking off its weeklong cruises to France, Italy and Spain, the Allure underwent a major refurbishment that modernized its public areas and introduced new features.
The $100 million project was completed in April and was highlighted by the addition of The Perfect Storm, a trio of waterslides, as well as the debut of new dining venues and bars.
Other changes included the creation of new suites over the ship’s bridge, as well as an upgraded pool deck and Royal Caribbean’s signature Ultimate Abyss dry slide.
In 2026, the Allure of the Seas is set to offer cruises departing from three homeports: Fort Lauderdale, Galveston and Miami.
The ship starts the year offering weeklong cruises from Port Everglades before repositioning to Texas for a spring season in mid-March.
In late April, the vessel returns to Fort Lauderdale before arriving in Miami in late October for the 2026-27 winter season.
