For the past several months, Canada’s Wonderland has been showcasing the development of a new roller-coaster.

On its website, the Vaughan amusement park bills AlpenFury as a “world record-breaking launch coaster” that is opening at some point this year.

Canada’s Wonderland has been providing updates on the construction of AlpenFury on its social media platforms as visitors eagerly await their chance to try out the ride.

“Over the last few months, our crews have been hard at work and AlpenFury has finally come to life with its first few test runs,” Canada’s Wonderland social media manager Nina Kozlowska said in the latest update posted on June 30.

“Testing and commissioning have officially begun and there’s a lot that goes into bringing this coaster to life. Every system, from the energy storage, to the launch controls, have been brought online,” she added.

“As testing continues on AlpenFury, the area around AlpenFest is transforming. The station, the plaza, the tunnel. It’s all coming together. Stay tuned. The best is still to come.”

In April, Canada’s Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock gave INsauga.com a general timeline of when they were hoping to open the roller-coaster.

“All I can say is we’re currently targeting late Spring,” Peacock said.

We are now about two and a half weeks into Summer, however, and AlpenFury is not yet open to the public.

INsauga.com contacted Canada’s Wonderland for an update on the timeline, but nothing specific was provided.

“While a date has not yet been shared, we do anticipate one being made public very soon. Your wait is coming to a close,” spokesperson Kristin Fitzgerald said.

Canada’s Wonderland says that AlpenFury will be the “longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster in the country.”

“When fire and ice come together inside the mysterious Wonder Mountain, the force will propel riders into a thrilling journey beginning with a launch that blasts the train out the summit, 50 metres into the sky,” a previous media release said.

“The coaster will span 1,000 metres across the park, reaching speeds of 115 km/h, flipping and twisting through nine breathtaking inversions – the most of any launch coaster in the world.”

When exactly the public will be able to try it out, however, remains to be seen.
