All 20 immigration departure counters have been activated at Jinnah International Airport to facilitate smoother passenger movement, officials announced on Saturday.
Deputy Director of Immigration Shehzad Akbar said full staffing at the counters during peak hours has reduced average immigration clearance time to nearly one minute per passenger.
He added that a pre-departure clearance counter is also operational, allowing travelers to complete immigration procedures days before their flight to avoid last-minute delays.
Authorities said upcoming improvements include the installation of e-gates and the launch of a dedicated mobile app to further streamline passenger departures.
Officials also noted that recent measures by the Airport Security Force have limited the entry of non-travelers to outside the departure area, helping manage congestion.
During peak travel hours, some domestic lounge counters are temporarily allocated for international departures to provide airlines with additional boarding space.
Authorities say these steps are part of broader efforts to improve passenger experience and modernize airport services in Karachi.
