Celestyal Cruises’ Chief Executive Officer Chris Theophilides said that the company’s ships will sail from the Middle East “as soon as it is safe to do so.”

In a statement shared on social media, he added that the line remains firmly focused on resuming service in Greece.

“Over the past few weeks, we have continued to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East, always with one clear priority in mind: the safety and well-being of our guests, crew, and partners,” he said.

“Following careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel all April 2026 sailings while our ships, the Celestyal Discovery and the Celestyal Journey, wait to reposition to the Mediterranean,” Theophilides continued.

Unable to transit the Strait of Hormuz and start their journeys back to Europe, the two vessels are currently docked in the Arabian Gulf.

He called the recent cancellations, which were announced earlier this week, a proactive and precautionary step.

“Acting now allows us to provide clarity and, importantly, gives our guests and travel partners the time and flexibility needed to adjust their plans with confidence.”

Theophilides also praised the company’s teams, saying he’s incredibly proud of how they are supporting those impacted.

“(They are) working quickly and carefully to offer rebooking options and ensure a straightforward transition,” he added.

“We remain in close contact with the relevant authorities and will resume movement of our vessels as soon as it is safe to do so.”

He said that Celestyal continues in close contact with relevant authorities to resume movement when deemed safe.

“Preparations are already well underway, and we look forward to welcoming guests back on board from May.”

After having their operations in the Middle East halted in late February, the Celestyal Discovery and the Celestyal Journey are set to operate summer deployments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
