The company surveyed 4,600 people from 26 different countries, based on their perception of their own politeness, and also where they have traveled and been welcomed by polite people.
Canada came in second place with a politeness score of 13.5%. The U.K. claimed third place with 6.23%.
China ranked fourth, followed by Germany.
The rest of the top 10 were the Philippines, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and South Africa.

This is reflected in everyday practices such as bowing in greeting, attentive hospitality, and strong public consideration, including maintaining quiet spaces and orderly queuing.
Japan logged 42.7 million tourist arrivals last year, topping 2024’s record of nearly 37 million.
Many tourists praised the country for its exceptional cleanliness, safety, and polite culture. Visitors are consistently impressed by the blend of traditional culture and modern technology, reliable transportation, and high-quality food.
