NEWS FLASH
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will propose to the Serbian government the construction of a “Tesla Airport Walkway”, which would link the terminal building with a future railway station located approximately 500 metres from the facility. In cooperation with global consultancy Arup, which has been involved in numerous airport projects worldwide, the airport’s team has prepared a study outlining the development of the proposed walkway. Commenting on the project, Belgrade Airport Development Director, Petar Novaković, said, “Following a comprehensive analysis, including capacity demand assessments, market research and extensive optioneering, we have proposed a scalable solution – starting with an at-grade walkway and evolving into an elevated passerelle in the final phase – focused on safety, passenger comfort, accessibility, environmental considerations and innovation. A special element of the concept is the integration of Nikola Tesla’s spirit through several innovative features. We hope this idea will become a reality – if not in time for EXPO [mid-May 2027], then as part of a future airport development cycle”.
