Norwegian Cruise Line has changed the departure port for the cruise that is set to take place onboard the Norwegian Dawn on August 2, 2026. The ship will now sail from Tarragona instead of Barcelona.
According to a statement sent to booked guests, the decision was made due to changes in port availability.
“As we prepare to host you for an unforgettable voyage, we’d like to share an important update to your itinerary following revised port availability,” Norwegian said.
“Even the most thoughtfully curated itineraries may require occasional updates, and while these moments can be unexpected, they also create opportunities to reimagine your journey in fresh and meaningful ways,” the company added.
Sailing from its new homeport in Spain, the Norwegian Dawn is scheduled to offer a seven-night cruise to the Western Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
While the ship’s departure was moved from 04:00 p.m. to 07:00 p.m., no further changes to the ship’s itinerary were announced.
After departing from Tarragona, the Norwegian Dawn is scheduled to sail to Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Motril, Gibraltar, Cadiz and Portimão.
The weeklong cruise is then set to end at the Portuguese port of Lisbon on August 9, 2026.
“While we coordinate closely with port authorities to confirm every detail well in advance, operational conditions can change, and at times we’re informed that space is no longer available,” Norwegian said.
“As fellow travelers at heart, we understand that itinerary changes can bring disappointment, and we truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility,” the company added.
Currently wrapping up a winter season in Tampa, the Norwegian Dawn is scheduled to reposition to Europe in mid-April.
Before returning to Florida in November, the ship will offer a series of itineraries to destinations in the Western Mediterranean and Western Europe, visiting Portugal, Spain and more.
