FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) has fired a Philadelphia (PHL)-based flight attendant after she posted a satirical video on social media joking about the ongoing conflict with Iran. The termination, which took place in March 2026, also cited several other policy violations.
The flight attendant, known online as “Jumpseat Jasmine,” shared the news on her Instagram account. She expressed no hard feelings toward American Airlines and described the firing as a positive turning point toward her goal of becoming a full-time content creator.

American Flight Attendant Terminated
The video that appeared on her termination letter was a satire skit posted in early March 2026, shortly after the start of the U.S. conflict with Iran, OMAAT flagged exclusively.
In the skit, the flight attendant pretended to be on a phone call with Iran, making references to the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, the White House, and the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
The content was widely viewed as inappropriate and inflammatory, particularly given the sensitive geopolitical climate.
American Airlines moved quickly to end her employment after the video surfaced. The flight attendant herself acknowledged that the outcome was expected and took full accountability for her actions.

Multiple Policy Violations Contributed to the Firing
While the Iran video served as the primary reason listed on the termination letter, the flight attendant admitted that other factors also played a role.
She revealed that she had repeatedly worn hairstyles and nails that did not comply with American Airlines uniform standards.
She also had visible tattoos that were not properly covered during flights, another violation of the airline’s appearance policy.
These infractions, combined with the controversial video, made the termination a straightforward decision for the airline. The flight attendant openly acknowledged these violations and did not attempt to shift blame.

From Regional Carrier to Mainline and Content Creation
The flight attendant began her aviation career in 2021 with PSA Airlines, a regional subsidiary of American Airlines (AA).
She later transitioned to mainline operations at American. However, she stated that she never viewed the job as a long-term career path.
She recalled that her first free flight as an airline employee was to visit her mother and take her off life support. She interpreted that experience as a sign that the profession was not meant for her permanently.
Over time, she built a social media following through her flight attendant content and grew her presence across two Instagram accounts.

A Positive Response to Termination
Unlike several other airline employees who have been fired for social media activity in recent years, this flight attendant chose not to play the victim.
She praised American Airlines for the opportunities it provided and expressed gratitude for the friendships and experiences she gained during her time with the carrier.
She described the termination as “the greatest blessing” of her life, stating that it gave her the courage to pursue content creation full-time. She also acknowledged her critics and even thanked those who do not support her, maintaining a notably positive tone throughout her public response.
