LONDON— A cabin crew member from British Airways (BA) has been dismissed after authorities found her significantly above the legal alcohol limit following a short-haul flight.
The incident occurred on a service departing from London Heathrow (LHR) to Malaga (AGP), raising serious concerns over aviation safety compliance.
The flight attendant was detained after the aircraft landed in Spain, where subsequent breath analysis confirmed alcohol levels far exceeding permitted limits for operating crew.

The 59-year-old crew member was working on a three-hour flight when passengers and colleagues reportedly noticed unusual behavior.
Witnesses stated that she appeared unsteady during the flight, prompting intervention from fellow crew members.
She was later escorted to a seat at the rear of the aircraft and secured for the remainder of the journey. The situation was managed onboard to ensure passenger safety and maintain operational control. Upon arrival in Malaga, local authorities conducted breath tests.
Reports indicate that her alcohol level reached approximately 70 micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath, which is significantly above the legal limit of 9 micrograms for aircrew.

Following the incident, the crew member was arrested and later appeared before a UK court. She was admitted to a drink-related offense based on a secondary test reading, which still showed a high alcohol concentration.
The court imposed a financial penalty totaling £768, along with additional costs of £392, the Mirror reported. The individual expressed regret over the situation and acknowledged the consequences of her actions.
