Frequently, the price of an admission ticket is only the start of a day of further spending, as parks charge for extra rides and experiences.
But a Pembrokeshire attraction is up there with the most budget-friendly.
The Dinosaur Park, near Tenby, has just been ranked as the second best value theme park in the whole of the UK.

A new study by VIP Grinders analysed 47 theme parks across the UK to determine which provides visitors with the best experience for the most affordable price
The study examined various factors, including online ticket prices, number of rides and attractions, review ratings, and the number of good value-related terms in customer reviews to create an overall score out of 100 for each park.
The Dinosaur Park scored 60.61, with its adult day ticket at a very reasonable £18.95 and its 12 rides and 26 attractions included in the admission price.

Over a quarter of its reviews mentioned ‘free’, which indicates visitors appreciate complimentary features within the park, which is currently on the market for £4.5m.
Telma Casaca from VIP Grinders, commented: “It is interesting to see that the best value theme parks aren’t necessarily the most well-known.
“For families looking for a great day out whilst out on a budget, considering smaller parks like The Dinosaur Park could offer better value than the more heavily advertised options.
“ With day tickets under £20, these parks prove that a great day out doesn’t have to break the bank.”

The Dinosaur Park came in as second best value behind Adventure Island at Southend-on-Sea, and ahead of well-known theme park names Paultons Park And Alton Towers.
At the other end of the scale, GreenWood Family Park in Y Felinheli, North Wales, earned the dubious honour of the worst-value park in the UK.
Manchester’s Legoland Discovery Centre came in at second, with Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park in Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire third.
