A Canada’s Wonderland guest has gone viral for getting themselves banned from the Ontario amusement park.

TikTok user data_to_clean shared a pair of videos this past Saturday that have since been reuploaded to several other accounts, triggering widespread conversation about park safety rules.

In the initial clip shared on the platform, the user stands outside of the park gate, showing a slip dated July 25, with text reading “Canada’s Wonderland notice issued pursuant to the Ontario Trespass to Property Act, 1990.” 

The guest explains, “I just got banned for absolutely no reason,” and then immediately proceeds to explain the reason they were banned, seemingly failing to connect the two very obviously related data points.

According to the user, he was banned “for recording video on a ride,” which is indeed a violation of the Canada’s Wonderland Code of Conduct.

Park rules state that “Unsolicited photography or video recording that disrupts a guest’s experience or interferes with park operations. Filming, regardless of device, secured or unsecure, is prohibited on most rides and attractions.”

Still, the guest doubled down in a second TikTok post, downplaying the violation that could have put other guests at risk, and criticizing the 365-day ban “all just for recording a video on a ride.”

They go on to complain about the cost of their decision, saying “I didn’t even get my money back. $200 just gone like that.”

Commenters quickly piled on in defence of the ban.

One user replied, “No wonder why you were banned. If somebody dropped even a penny from being that high up and it hit somebody’s head, they would not be here anymore. A phone is way heavier than a penny — I think being banned from the park is better than being in jail.”
