The 14th-annual European Star Awards in Barcelona acknowledged Sally Dark Rides with accolades in three categories: Sesame Street: Street Mission at PortAventura World – Best Family Rides, Uncharted: Enigma of Penitence at PortAventura World – Best Indoor Rides and SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride at The Land of Legends Theme Park – Best New Indoor Attractions.
Trio of European Star Awards
Sesame Street: Street Mission invites guests into the colourful world of Sesame Street, combining state-of-the-art ride technology with beloved characters and immersive media that make it an ideal experience for families.
“The award for Best Family Rides underscores the universal appeal and its ability to entertain visitors young and old. This marks the seventh star awarded to Street Mission since the rides opening in 2019,” said Sally Dark Rides.
Meanwhile, Uncharted: Enigma of Penitence, also at PortAventura World, gained a third-year star for Europe’s Best Indoor Rides. This thrilling dark coaster plunges guests into a mysterious, ancient world filled with unexpected twists and cutting-edge special effects.
“The ride showcases Sally Dark Rides’ ability to blend expert storytelling with a high-speed transportation system like Intamin’s launch coaster to create a heart-pounding adventure,” added the company.
Finally, SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride, which opened 2024 at The Land of Legends Theme Park, was awarded its first star for Europe’s Best New Indoor Attractions.
“This fun-filled, vibrant attraction brings to life the whimsical world of SpongeBob SquarePants, with a high-energy experience that has quickly become a fan favourite,” concluded Sally Dark Rides.
Furthermore, the European Star Award was launched in 2012 by the trade magazine ‘Kirmes & Park International’ to recognise innovative ideas and promote entrepreneurial courage. The European Star Award is traditionally presented on the eve of IAAPA Expo Europe and has quickly established itself as the most important award in the European amusement park industry.
An international jury of 32 experts voted in advance in 15 categories for parks and attractions within Europe.
