Flights are limited out of West Wendover Airport, so consider a 90-minute drive to Salt Lake City where many flight options exist. Google maps works along the Cowboy Corridor.

Eating there: Eat family-style at Louis’ Basque Corner in Reno (louisbasquecorner.com); sample Winnemucca’s best Basque cuisine at the Martin Hotel (themartinhotel.com); check out one of the US’s oldest Basque restaurants at Elko’s Star Hotel (elkostarhotel.com) and eat gourmet cuisine every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night through summer and autumn at Ruby Lodge (ruby360lodge.com).
