Autumn is known as a popular time of year for a romantic getaway. However, it is also a perfect opportunity to book a family staycation.
Everyone will have their own idea of the perfect family holiday. Some enjoy the amenities of a city break, while others prefer a cottage in the Scottish Highlands where they have easy access to spectacular walks.
However, for many, there is nothing quite like a holiday park or caravan site. If you are struggling to find somewhere to head with the family, one was previously named the “best in Scotland”.
Auchenlarie Holiday Park is an award-winning park situated on the coastline of Dumfries and Galloway. It offers direct access to a secluded beach that overlooks Wigtown Bay.

GO Outdoors stated: “Auchenlarie Holiday Park is situated on the picturesque Dumfries and Galloway coast and is a popular destination for a caravan holiday. The site has an average user review rating of 4.57 stars out of five, with visitors citing the idyllic views of Wigtown Bay and affordable food at the on-site shop.

“The on-site shop means that daily necessities can be easily purchased, and the site is less than a five-minute walk to the nearest beach, Auchenlarie Beach.”
For those after a more traditional holiday in the area, there are many hotels to choose from. These include the Masonic Arms and The Ship Inn in Gatehouse of Fleet.
