The gap in vacation expenses by region was also noticeable. In the case of office workers in Seoul, the expenditure plan per person was 776,000 won, which was higher than the national average, while in Jeonnam, on the contrary, it was only 393,000 won.

By age group, the average expenditure of those in their 30s was the highest at 666,000 won, followed by 527,000 won for those in their 20s, 494,000 won for those in their 40s, and 446,000 won for those in their 50s.

The most desired support plan for summer vacation (multiple responses) was the “delivery ticket discount” (50.8%). In addition, benefits that can reduce actual vacation spending, such as “expanding local love gift certificates and local currency benefits” (36.5%) or “transportation cost discounts” (35.8%) were ranked high.

Kim Min-seok, head of the distribution and logistics policy team at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed, “As the government recently announced an active supplementary plan, we should not miss the opportunity to link consumption during the holiday season to revitalize domestic demand through practical support policies such as discounts on accommodation tickets and local gift certificates.”
