TOKYO— ANA Group (NH) has announced a major restructuring of its brand strategy, shifting from a three-brand approach (ANA, AirJapan, Peach) to a dual-brand model centered on ANA and Peach Aviation (MM). The move aligns with the Group’s efforts to boost profitability and competitiveness amid ongoing market and operational challenges.

Operating out of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND) and Osaka’s Kansai Airport (KIX), the Group will discontinue the AirJapan (NQ) brand by March 2026. This consolidation follows the impact of the prolonged Russia–Ukraine conflict, continued aircraft delivery delays, and aircraft-on-ground (AOG) issues affecting its Boeing 787 fleet.

AirJapan to Merge with ANA

Since 2024, ANA Group has operated under a multi-brand strategy to capture a wide range of passenger demand across international and regional markets.

  • ANA (NH) focused on premium international routes, adding destinations such as Haneda–Stockholm, Milan, and Istanbul to its network.
  • AirJapan (NQ) positioned itself as a hybrid carrier, offering affordable fares on routes including Narita–Bangkok, Narita–Seoul, and Narita–Singapore.
  • Peach Aviation (MM) expanded its low-cost operations primarily on Kansai–Asia leisure routes, supported by strong inbound and regional travel demand.

However, industry headwinds have prompted ANA Group to streamline its operations. The AirJapan brand will be suspended, with its aircraft and human resources integrated into ANA’s mainline services to reinforce international capacity and efficiency.

The restructuring reflects ANA’s goal to optimize resource allocation and eliminate overlapping brand functions.

Final AirJapan Flights

AirJapan will operate its last services in March 2026, marking the end of its short two-year run. Below is the schedule for its final routes:

Operational Realignment

The operating company AirJapan, which previously managed flights for both ANA and the AirJapan brand, will continue to support international operations under the ANA banner.

The company will leverage its existing expertise and high operational standards to enhance ANA’s full-service network.

The transition to a dual-brand strategy—ANA as a full-service carrier and Peach as a low-cost carrier—will take effect from fiscal year 2026, pending regulatory approval. This streamlined approach is expected to simplify ANA Group’s structure, strengthen its market presence, and improve overall profitability.

End of AirJapan Operations

According to ANA’s latest statement, AirJapan flights will conclude on March 28, 2026, covering remaining routes such as Seoul and Bangkok until then.

Ticket sales are open only until that date. The short-lived brand, introduced in 2024, struggled to establish a distinct identity between ANA’s premium services and Peach’s budget model.

Customers found limited differentiation between AirJapan and ANA flights, with overlapping crew, aircraft interiors, and service standards contributing to brand confusion. By consolidating operations, ANA Group aims to present a clearer, more unified offering for passengers.
