Aegean Airlines suspends more flights to the Middle East

Greek flag carrier Aegean Airlines is seeking its further expansion abroad through a number of targeted moves. Greece’s leading airline is seeking to land state-subsidized services out of Skopje and Ochrid airports in North Macedonia to European destinations. It is also reported to be considering the takeover of Croatia Airlines, the carrier that is about to be privatized in the eurozone’s newest member-state, to add to its Balkan penetration after obtaining 51% in Romania’s Animawings. Aegean also recently renewed its strategic partnership with TUI France and will operate a hub at Lille Airport.

Greece’s largest carrier suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut, Erbil and Baghdad through early morning arrivals of March 10, after the war in Iran forced the closure of key Middle Eastern hubs, stranding tens of thousands of passengers worldwide and disrupting thousands of flights.

Aegean Airlines also cancelled its flights to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi until the evening arrivals of March 6 and from Riyadh and Jeddah until the early morning arrivals of March 7.
