Air Serbia and Air Montenegro will become the first two European carriers to shift operations to Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3, which will open on April 22. The two flag carriers are scheduled to move to the new facility on Tuesday, May 5. They will be followed by Aer Lingus and British Airways on May 19, then Air France, KLM, Bulgaria Air, easyJet, Finnair, Fly One, Iberia, Icelandair, SAS, SATA, SkyExpress and TAROM on June 9.
Frankfurt’s brand-new Terminal 3 is one of the biggest airport expansion projects in Europe. It will offer a next-generation passenger experience built around efficiency, scale and flexibility, with capacity for up to nineteen million travellers annually and a modular layout centred on three piers handling both Schengen and non-Schengen traffic. The facility features spacious check-in and security areas equipped with modern CT scanners, a large central marketplace with extensive retail and dining options and improved passenger flow designed to reduce congestion and walking distances. Fully integrated into the airport’s hub system, it will enable smooth transfers through advanced baggage handling and digital processes, while its location on the southern side of the airport is supported by rapid connections to other terminals via the automated SkyLine train.
