Key Takeaways

  • “Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy” is an exhibition of amusement park attractions made by some of the world’s most famous artists, including Salvador Dalí, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Keith Haring.
  • The exhibit will take place at Atlanta’s Pullman Yards starting September 24.

Starting September 24, Atlanta’s Pullman Yards will host an art exhibit that’s unlike anything you’ve seen in a museum or gallery. “Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy” is a collection of fanciful carnival rides made by some of the world’s most famous artists, including Salvador Dalí, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Keith Haring.

Set in a cavernous space inside Pullman Yards, visitors will be able to wander through the “world’s first art amusement park” at their own pace. Pieces include a glass labyrinth by Roy Lichtenstein, a Ferris wheel by Basquiat, a forest-like pavilion by David Hockney, and other quirky attractions. A soundtrack by artists including André 3000 and David Byrne adds to Luna Luna’s immersive feel. Every one-of-a-kind piece is full scale and operational, although you can’t ride them—these are priceless works of art, after all.

What Is Luna Luna?

In 1987, Austrian artist and impresario André Heller debuted Luna Luna in Hamburg, Germany. His intention to take the collection on a world tour never came to fruition, and the pieces remained in storage and unseen for decades. That changed in 2022, when DreamCrew, a multimedia company founded by rap star Aubrey Drake Graham and Adel “Future” Nur, along with their partners, acquired Luna Luna. Now, the entire carnival has been carefully restored and reassembled to share with the world. After New York and Los Angeles, the exhibit will now make a stop in Atlanta this fall.

How Much Are Tickets?

Tickets are now on sale through November. General admission (starting at $40 for adults and $25 for kids) and family passes (weekdays start at $97 and weekend at $120) offer timed entries. The Moon Pass (starting at $60 for adults and $25 for kids) allows visitors to view Luna Luna at any time on the date of the ticket, as well as other perks like gift shop discounts.
