Kim Tester and Paul Ransom say they return to Stonehenge for each equinox and solstice to “recharge”.

“We’re coming out of the darkness and then into the light again, so for me, it’s about rebirth,” Kim says.

“We just love the atmosphere, it’s beautiful.”

Paul adds the winter solstice feels particularly “intimate and personal”, owing to colder weather and smaller crowds.

“To be this close to the stones is an honour and I’m grateful for it,” he says.

“There’s a certain resonance that the stones give off and it softens people. It seems here that people are themselves.”
