Some basic courtesies are non-negotiable. For example, before checking out of a hotel, it is your responsibility to ensure that the room is not a mess. Switching off appliances, folding towels neatly, arranging the bed and disposing of trash properly are some unspoken rules that guests must follow. However, a man in China ignored these etiquettes to such an extreme that it not only shocked the hotel staff but also sparked discussion on social media.
A video of the hotel’s deplorable condition is circulating widely on X. According to a report by The Sun, the guest was a compulsive online gamer who had booked a stay at the accommodation in Changchun for two years. As per the housekeeping staff, he hardly came out of the room.
Disturbing Hotel Room Visuals Go Viral
The stomach-churning clip captured countless dirty and crumpled food wrappers, empty drinking bottles and cans, as well as boxes of takeaway food crammed in almost every corner of the room. Two gaming chairs and a table peeked from underneath the pile of waste lying all over the ground. The bathroom was equally appalling, with hundreds of sodden toilet paper and discarded items scattered on the floor, covering the lavatory and the washbasin. Adding to the disgusting visuals was the fact that a thick layer of grime also accumulated everywhere.
The extensive clean-up process, followed by disinfecting the room, took three days, claimed The Sun. Even then, the hotel management revealed that there was visible damage, which would require in-depth renovation work before the room is reopened to guests. The hotel grants stays to Esports players, equipped with computer gaming equipment, fast internet and dedicated gaming chairs.
Internet Left Aghast By Video
“Even after the deep cleaning, would you like to be the next in line customer in this room?” asked a user. “How did nobody smell that?” wondered another. “Omg I can taste it in my mouth. I wouldn’t be able to endure that bathroom,” admitted an individual. “They left him in there for 2 years. What do they expect?” read a remark.
The hotel management shared that the gamer still hasn’t paid for over 10 days of his stay, totalling about £300.
