Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the M-5 Motorway near Jalalpur Pirwala on Tuesday to inspect ongoing repair and restoration work following recent flood damage.
He directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to restore one-way traffic on the motorway by November 30 and told officials to immediately minimize inconvenience for commuters. During the visit, the minister closely reviewed rehabilitation progress and instructed NHA engineers to maintain strict quality standards.
He warned that the government will not tolerate substandard work at any stage. Khan also ordered officials to submit a detailed progress report within one week and said he will return for a follow-up inspection.
The minister inspected rest houses and roadside services along the M-5 corridor, expressing dissatisfaction with their current condition. He reprimanded the responsible officials and directed them to improve facilities without delay.
He specifically called for clean restrooms, stocked tuck shops, and properly maintained traveler services, stressing that every commuter deserves reliable and hygienic amenities.
Khan reaffirmed that the Ministry of Communications aims to restore full functionality to the M-5 Motorway as quickly as possible. Earlier, NHA officials briefed him on the status of ongoing repair operations in the affected areas.
