Passengers aboard the Disney Adventure, Disney Cruise Line’s first ship in Asia, were forced to disembark after a mechanical issue led to the cancellation of a five-day, four-night voyage departing from Singapore.
The cruise ship had been scheduled to leave the Marina Bay Cruise Center on May 7, with passengers beginning to board shortly before noon. But after remaining docked overnight, guests were informed the following afternoon that the cruise was canceled, The Straits Times reported.
A spokesperson for Disney Cruise Line said technical teams were yet to resolve the mechanical problem, Channel News Asia reported.
Food services and entertainment activities, including performances, continued until the cancelation announcement was made.
Guests were told they would receive full refunds, including for unused prepaid packages such as onboard Wi-Fi and photography services.
Passengers were also offered a one-night hotel stay in Singapore with transfers and up to US$500 per stateroom to cover incidental expenses linked to the cancellation.
Flight change fees for overseas travelers will also be reimbursed.
All the guests have been promised a 50% discount on a future cruise booking.
The Disney Adventure, which began operating from Singapore in 2026, is Disney Cruise Line’s largest vessel with a capacity of 6,700 passengers across 20 decks and seven themed zones.
According to the cruise line’s website, prices for a four-night “cruise to nowhere” from Singapore start at US$1,430 for two people, including accommodation, meals, entertainment, and access to onboard amenities.
It is still unclear if the ship’s next scheduled departure on May 11 will proceed as planned.
