A media company that also operates theme parks is reminiscent of the Walt Disney Company. Europa-Park Rust also wants to combine the two areas. To mark its 50th anniversary, the theme park is releasing a movie. In it, DJ Bobo lends his voice to a character.

It is called “Grand Prix of Europe” – an animated film whose main characters are the park’s two mascots. The movie is particularly worthwhile for older children and is fast-paced and entertaining. It is about family, friendship, team spirit and dealing with competition. It tackles all these themes without pointing a finger.

Edda, the tough and slightly clumsy mouse, loves car races. She would love to be as successful a racing driver as her idol Ed, but the mouse has to help out at her father’s amusement park, which is not doing well due to debts. When nasty moneylenders threaten her father, Edda comes up with a plan. But this suddenly lands her in the middle of the racing circus and suddenly Edda has to go on exciting racing adventures.

DJ Bobo and Jan Delay

The look of this 98-minute film is reminiscent of the cult video game “Mario Kart”. However, one less race would have been enough. The movie might be too fast and too action-packed here and there, especially for younger children without age restrictions. For older children, however, the mixture is well balanced.

German musician Jan Delay and Swiss DJ Bobo went into the studio for the film. Delay lends his voice to the parrot Enzo, who comments on the exciting races. DJ Bobo voices the friendly and helpful goat Böckli.

Europa-Park has big plans

It will be exciting to see what happens next for Europa-Park in the film business. The managing director certainly has big plans. “We are probably the only studio in Germany that produces content for both the leisure industry and the cinema market,” said Michael Mack in an interview with the magazine “Blickpunkt: Film”.

“I’d say quite boldly: we have one of the best animation studios in Germany,” he added. “My father proved that you can build world-class amusement parks in Germany. I want to do the same in the film industry.”
