Holland America Line and Seabourn today announced that Mark Tamis, President of Seabourn, will assume a dual leadership role, adding responsibility for Guest Experience and Product Development (GEPD) across both brands, according to a company statement.
Tamis will begin overseeing GEPD for Seabourn immediately and for Holland America Line in the coming months.
Tamis, who joined the organization in November 2024, brings more than three decades of experience in food, beverage, and guest operations across the cruise and luxury hospitality sectors. His leadership background includes senior roles at Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
The expanded role comes as Michael Smith, Senior Vice President of Guest Experience and Product Development, announces his retirement effective May 1 after a distinguished career dedicated to elevating guest experience and shaping the product strategy for both Holland America Line and Seabourn.
“Michael’s leadership has made a lasting impact on our business, and his influence is visible across the award-winning service and product on our ships,” said Beth Bodensteiner, President, Holland America Line. “As Michael begins his transition, Mark’s expertise and leadership style will allow us to continue delivering the exceptional service, culinary excellence, and extraordinary entertainment that our guests expect.”
“I am truly excited to take on this expanded role while continuing to serve as President of Seabourn,” Tamis said. “Leading Seabourn is an honor, and that commitment remains unchanged. I look forward to bringing my decades of experience in luxury hospitality, guest operations, and food & beverage to further elevate the distinct guest experience cultures of both Holland America Line and Seabourn.”
Smith will transition his responsibilities over the next few months and will continue as a consultant on ship refurbishment beyond that period. The company also promoted Michael Stendebach to Senior Vice President, Food, Beverage and Rooms Division for Holland America and Seabourn. Stendebach has been instrumental in the team’s success since joining Holland America four years ago, following more than a decade in similar roles across Carnival Corporation.
