The World, Residences at Sea, has announced the appointment of Frank Liska to Captain, effective March 2026.
He will share the position with Captain Dag Sævik and be responsible for the daily maritime operation of the ship and the safety and comfort of residents, guests and crew.
“Frank embodies the professionalism, passion for exploration, and deep commitment to community that define The World. Promoting from within is central to who we are and reflects our commitment to developing talent among our hard-working team members,” said Jessica Hoppe, president and CEO of The World.
“Frank’s advancement to Captain reflects the excellence and leadership he has shown over the years. We are proud to see him step into this well-earned role and are confident in the leadership he will bring to the Ship and its community.”
Liska replaces Captain Mark Dexter, who made his final debarkation on January 12, 2026, when The World called on Sydney, Australia, concluding a 40-year maritime career.
Liska is a graduate of Norway’s Maritime College Ålesund, now known as Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and his experience in the maritime industry spans almost 30 years.
He joined The World in 2003 as First Officer, advanced to Chief Officer in 2007 and to Staff Captain in 2010, a role he held until his promotion to Captain.
In addition to holding Norwegian and Bahamian Master Mariner Certifications, he has received training in areas such as crisis management, environment and protection, human behavior management, among others.
