HYDERABAD- Gulf Air (GF) received a bomb threat minutes after Flight GF274 departed from Manama, Bahrain, to Hyderabad. The e-mail warned of a blast at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) when the aircraft landed.
The message, received at 10:30 PM on Wednesday, triggered immediate security protocols. Authorities later classified the threat as non-specific, but intensified surveillance and launched an investigation.


Gulf Air Gets Bomb Threat After Takeoff
Airport sources confirmed that the threatening e-mail was received shortly after the Manama to Hyderabad flight took off.
The message was sent from an unidentified e-mail address to multiple official airport e-mail IDs, including customer support and lost and found departments.
The subject line read: “Holy Jihad: Blast in Hyderabad Airport Terminals When Gulf Air 274 From Bahrain Lands to RGIA.”
The sender claimed to represent a group identifying itself as the Tamil Liberation Organisation.
The e-mail alleged that members trained by an extremist outfit were on board the flight and stated that an explosion would occur upon landing at the airport. It also carried serious allegations against certain political individuals.
Authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport activated the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee for a detailed review. After the assessment, the committee declared the threat as non-specific.
The Central Industrial Security Force intensified surveillance in and around the airport as a precaution. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted thorough scans in check-in and arrival areas.
Officials also increased random security checks across terminal zones to ensure passenger safety.
According to NDTV, the response followed established aviation security procedures designed to manage threats while maintaining operational stability.


Investigation Underway
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the e-mail and identify the sender.
Technical teams are examining digital evidence to determine the source and assess any potential links claimed in the message.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation while maintaining heightened security across airport facilities.

A separate bomb threat was reported involving British Airways (BA) Flight BA277 operating from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD). The aircraft landed safely before authorities initiated security protocols.
Airport officials stated that the threat related to BA277 was received via e-mail by the customer support team at Hyderabad Airport.
The alert triggered immediate coordination between airport security, airline representatives, and emergency services.
Following standard aviation procedures, the aircraft was moved to a designated isolation bay after landing.
Passengers were safely deplaned and underwent mandatory security screening. Officials conducted comprehensive checks of cabin baggage and cargo to eliminate any risk.
Security teams deployed sniffer dogs and positioned fire and medical units on standby as part of the precautionary response. Authorities later confirmed that no suspicious material was found during inspections.
After clearance from security agencies, the aircraft resumed operations and subsequently departed for London Heathrow Airport. Sources indicated that airport activities continued without major disruption beyond the routine response window.
Flight BA277 was operated by a 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registered as G-ZBJC, and powered by 2 GEnX engines.
British Airways confirmed full cooperation with local authorities and adherence to established international aviation safety standards.
