An Emirates Airlines flight reported GPS signal difficulties shortly before landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday night, aviation sources confirmed.
According to officials, Flight EK606 encountered the disruption while approaching the runway at an altitude of around 3,000 feet. The captain immediately alerted Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC), which provided guidance to ensure the aircraft’s safe approach and landing.
In February this year, similar GPS disruptions were reported at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports, prompting aviation authorities to issue guidelines for pilots. At the time, ATC instructed flight crews to immediately report any GPS signal problems and provide details of the interference to ensure flight safety.
Officials noted that such disruptions are typically caused by frequency interference, which can affect flight paths and cause minor deviations in navigation. Aviation authorities said they continue to monitor the issue closely and have kept precautionary measures in place to ensure safe operations.
