ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued an updated traffic plan in view of the prevailing security situation, announcing multiple road closures, diversions, and restricted entry points across the federal capital.

An ITP official told APP on Tuesday that entry of all heavy traffic into Islamabad remains suspended until further notice.

Several routes in and around the Red Zone have been closed, while others remain partially open under controlled flow to ensure smooth movement.

Closed Routes

The following routes have been shut down completely:

Red Zone Entry (all points except Trail-III after security check)

Ispahani Road (Radio Pakistan Chowk to Shamas Picket)

Suhrawardy Road (Serena to Aabpara)

Jinnah Square Flyover to Serena

Constitution Avenue from Serena

DPD Gate at Srinagar Highway to Jinnah Square (Serena)

IJP Road spur towards Faizabad/I-8

Faizabad loops and adjoining connections to Murree Road

Ojhri Turn (Murree Road)

Single Lane / Restricted Flow

Certain roads remain open but only allow single-lane traffic:

Korrian Wala Flyover/Underpass (to/from Kashmir Chowk/Rawal Dam)

Srinagar Highway (Chongi No. 26 to Chand Tara Flyover)

G-14 Naka, Srinagar Highway

Garden Avenue (I-8 side to Shakarparian)

Kak Bridge Expressway

Diversions

Agha Nursery to Dhoke Kala Khan Flyover (via Garden Town & Sohan Service Road)

Expressway (III Stop to Dhoke Kala Khan Flyover)

Open Corridors

Despite the closures, major alternate corridors remain open, including:

Margalla Road (Golra Sharif to Trail-III, and E-11 Flyover to F-6 Hill Road)

Jinnah Avenue; 7th Avenue

Korang Road to Bani Gala; Jinnah Road to Park Road

Chand Tara Flyover to Club Road, Rawal Dam Flyover, and Garden Avenue

Iran Avenue to Margalla Road

G.T. Road (Katti Pehari to Sangjani)

Lehtrar Road, Park Road, Murree Road (Malpur to Bhara Kahu)

Faqir Aipee Road, IJP Road (Mehrabad to 9th Avenue), Simbly Dam Road

Faisal Avenue (Faisal Chowk to G-8/G-7 Link Bridge)

Garden Avenue (Chand Tara to Best Western)

Internal Roads: Embassy Road, Attaturk Avenue, Fazal-e-Haq Road, Nazim-ud-Din Road, Jinnah Avenue (internal)

Motorways

M-1 (to Peshawar): Open with two-lane in/out access to Islamabad

M-2 (to Lahore): Open with two-lane in/out access to Islamabad

The official added that ITP has deployed additional personnel along diversion points and alternate routes to guide motorists. Citizens are requested to follow diversion signs, remain tuned to FM 92.4, and use the official ITP WhatsApp channel for real-time updates.
