Karachi authorities have issued a revised traffic plan as work continues on the K-4 water supply project under the Karachi Water and Sewerage System Improvement Project (KWSSIP) along University Road.

The road closure, scheduled from November 10 to December 30, aims to facilitate the installation of water pipelines under the K-4 scheme. Traffic will be diverted toward Aladin Park via NIPA Chowrangi as an alternate route.

The city’s traffic police have also announced the closure of the service lane between Aziz Bhatti Park and Federal Urdu University. Vehicles traveling from Sir Syed University are being rerouted to Ghaziabad Road, while the stretch from Safari Park to Hasan Square remains open.

Commuters should expect delays and congestion in surrounding areas due to the main artery closure. KWSSIP officials confirmed that the first phase of the project covers the 2.7-kilometre stretch between NIPA Chowrangi and Federal Urdu University, while the second phase will extend from Hasan Square to NIPA Chowrangi.

The work involves installing 96-inch and 72-inch water pipelines, with authorities targeting a December 30 completion date. Officials have urged drivers to plan their routes in advance and cooperate with traffic management during the ongoing construction.
