A couple of holidaymakers have shared what they believe is the best road trip that explores everything there is to see in Northern Wales – and people were quick to agree with them
A couple claim to have found the best road trip through Northern Wales, which they claim ‘has something for everyone’, and it will only take five to seven days to complete.
Liz and Leon Diacogiannis are avid travellers who often travel around the UK and the rest of the world and share their top travel tips onto their social media pages, having over 127,000 followers on Instagram. While the couple have normal 9-5 jobs, working in the UK, they often take every opportunity they can to travel the world together, with their favourite type of holiday being a safari. However, the couple have also been on a fair few road trips across the UK, and have now shared one of their favourite ones.
In a video published on their Instagram, Liz and Leon went on to share all the information they had about their favourite UK road trip, which explores the nature and wonders of North Wales.
“It kills me that people spend their entire lives in the UK and never do this North Wales road trip,” they wrote at the start of the video, which showed them driving on a road in the middle of one of the many scenic valleys in Wales.
They went on to write in the caption of the video: “If you haven’t been to North Wales, you have to go!!! It’s such an amazing area to explore in the UK and perfect for a road trip! Wales is so diverse and has so much to offer for everyone.”
The couple then went on to show the route in question, which started by the Pistyll Rhaedar waterfall, located 16 miles west of Oswestry, before moving through several other scenic locations before finishing in Church Bay by the Anglesey coast.
There are then six stops in between the start and the end of the road trip, which has something for everyone, due to Wales’ diverse nature.
The stops included the area of Llynnau Cregennen in Snowdonia, which is considered a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and makes for a beautiful and easy hike. The standing stones are believed to date back to the Bronze Age. There are also several small ruins, including Hafoty Fach, birthplace to 18th century hymn writer, known as Ioan Rhagfyr.
For the next stops, you drive north through the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), where you will find the next three spots. First up is the Llyn Idwal, which the couple argued was a ‘fairly easy [walk] for the reward.
In this area, you can also find the Llanberis Pass, which they said was one of the most scenic roads in the UK, as well as The Lonely Tree, located at the edge of Llyn Padarn and is a great spot for paddle boarding.
After this, you continue the drive towards the coastline to Parys Mountain, a former copper mine that is known for its gorgeous and colourful views, before driving south down the coastline to South Stack House Lighthouse on the island of Anglesey, before making your final stop at Church Bay beach.
Liz and Leon went on to say they recommend planning out five to seven days to do this road trip. They also said that while summer is the most popular time to visit, it will also be more crowded. Instead, they said to consider spring and autumn, as the nature will be gorgeous at that time of year.
Viewers were soon in awe of the clips of the Welsh road trip, as many took to the comment to say they’d love to do a road trip of their own.
“Wales looks incredible!! So much to see,” one person said, while another wrote: “I can’t wait to visit Wales someday.”
A third person said: “I love this road trip so much.”
