This car is seeing more driving than our Skoda Superb, mostly thanks to me choosing to drive it more often.

1,30,000 km and road trip update:
Just last week, on a road trip to Ooty, the Fiesta crossed 1,30,000 km on the leg from Ooty to Bangalore! I’m once again spending as much quality time as I can with this car while I’m on break from college.
Unlike our trip to Munnar last year, where I only drove a short distance in the mountains, I drove much more on this trip. Funnily enough, the few imperfect sections around Ooty made me appreciate the Fiesta’s driving dynamics far more than the near-perfect roads around Munnar did. Provided you dodge the deep potholes, the smaller, usually unavoidable undulations do nothing to unsettle the car. On good roads, meanwhile, it remains as composed and chuckable as ever.
Ooty is very chilly at this time of the year, and we drove with the windows down 99% of the time. I’d forgotten how glorious the 1.6 sounds echoing off the mountains, and its distinctive whine when accelerating at modest speeds in second gear. Driving with the windows down is an experience in itself!
Here are some pictures to feast your eyes on.
The Fiesta resting under the shade of a forest while we went on a little hike. It is very evident from the slush that this trip was made in the monsoon.
Ooty is stunningly beautiful during this season.

Absolutely blissful roads most of the way.
On the drive back to Hyderabad, we stopped at this restaurant near Kurnool that had an ex-Air-India Airbus A320 with the famous double-bogie landing gear parked on its property! I’m pretty sure this is the only picture of any of our cars in such close proximity to an aircraft.
With a heavy heart, however, I must also disclose that time with this car is going to get harder to come by (at least for me). We will be moving back to NCR in the near future, and will have to store the Fiesta elsewhere thanks to the NGT ban. I briefly got my hopes up when the fuel ban was suspended, thinking that the original ban itself may finally get revoked. Once again, however, I was given a rude surprise soon after, with the ban set to be reinstated in November. It seems foolhardy to expect anything good to happen to enjoyers of older cars here ever again.
Here’s a shot of the car with a gorgeous backdrop of rain settling in onto the hills in the distance. Also, halogen fog lamps are an absolute godsend in low visibility, something we encountered very frequently.
As I said above, I’m spending as much time with this car as possible while I still can. In fact, for the first time since 2021, this car is seeing more driving than our Superb, mostly thanks to me choosing to drive it on most of our road trips and little escapades around the city while the opportunity remains.
Until next time. Cheers!
