SEATTLE- Alaska Airlines (AS), based in Seattle, and Hawaiian Airlines (HA), headquartered in Honolulu (HNL), have reached a major aviation milestone with Hawaiian Airlines officially joining the Oneworld alliance. The development marks a significant shift in the global airline network and strengthens Alaska Air Group’s international positioning.

The announcement comes as integration between the two carriers continues following Alaska Airlines’ acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines in 2024. Both airlines have now aligned operations more closely, setting the stage for deeper cooperation within the Oneworld framework as of April 22, 2026.

Hawaiian Airlines Oneworld Entry

Hawaiian Airlines has formally entered the Oneworld alliance, expanding the group’s global network and reinforcing its presence in the Pacific region. The move places Hawaiian alongside major international carriers under the alliance structure.

The timing aligns with a broader operational shift, including the transition to a unified passenger service system. As part of this change, the “HA” airline code will be retired, and all operations will adopt the “AS” code going forward, OMAAT flagged.

Oneworld membership strengthens connectivity for Hawaiian Airlines passengers, particularly across transpacific routes. The airline now integrates more directly with alliance partners across Asia, North America, and Oceania.

Alaska and Hawaiian Integration Progress

The integration between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines has progressed steadily since the 2024 acquisition. A key milestone occurred in October 2025 when both carriers moved to a single operating certificate.

Despite operational alignment, both brands will continue to exist in distinct roles. Hawaiian Airlines will retain branding on Hawaii-focused routes, while Alaska Airlines will operate under its own identity for other markets.

The airlines have also introduced the Atmos Rewards loyalty programme, which consolidates frequent flyer benefits under a unified structure. This programme already connects customers to Oneworld elite status tiers, including Sapphire and Emerald privileges.

Passenger Benefits

Oneworld membership delivers immediate advantages for loyal customers of partner airlines. Travellers can now earn and redeem points on Hawaiian Airlines flights through multiple Oneworld frequent flyer programmes.

Elite status holders benefit from expanded privileges, including lounge access and priority services across the alliance network. These benefits extend to passengers travelling between Hawaii and major international destinations.

The integration is expected to streamline award availability and earning structures over time. However, full alignment across all partner airlines may take additional time as systems are standardized.

Hawaiian Airlines’ entry also strengthens Oneworld’s competitive position following recent additions such as Fiji Airways and Oman Air. The alliance continues to expand its footprint in strategically important long-haul markets.
