A 57-year-old Polish tourist died on Saturday while swimming in the Navagio area of Zakynthos, in western Greece.

The man had traveled to the popular beach by boat. At some point, un her unclear circumstances, he lost consciousness. Other swimmers pulled him out to shore and provided first aid until a boat arrived to take him back to the port. From there, he was transported to the local hospital where doctors confirmed his death.

A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Agios Nikolaos Port Station.
