SINGAPORE— Qatar Airways (QR) has temporarily adjusted its Singapore Premium Lounge operations at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) following significant reductions in Middle East carrier flight schedules. The change directly affects premium passengers connecting through one of Asia’s busiest aviation hubs.

Qatar and other Gulf carriers have reduced frequencies to SIN amid ongoing regional operational disruptions. Emirates (EK) has also scaled back services, creating a ripple effect on passenger traffic and lounge usage across Terminal 1.

Singapore Airlines Reduced Flight Capacity

Middle East carriers operating at SIN have significantly cut back weekly services. Emirates has reduced operations from 35 weekly flights to just seven, while Qatar Airways has lowered its frequency from 21 weekly flights to 11.

Qatar Airways continues to operate select daily departures, but schedule reshuffling has removed the consistent morning service. This adjustment has become the primary reason behind changes in premium ground handling arrangements at Changi Airport.

The reduced capacity has also impacted premium passenger flow, particularly during morning peak hours when multiple Oneworld and partner connections typically operate.

Passenger connectivity through Singapore has also been indirectly affected, as reduced long-haul frequencies limit convenient onward connections across Asia and Europe.

Business class travelers, in particular, face fewer scheduling options, which compresses demand into limited departure banks.

This operational concentration further amplifies lounge usage during evening peaks, reinforcing the shift toward a single extended nighttime lounge window.

Singapore Premium Lounge Hours Change

Qatar Airways Singapore Premium Lounge has shifted from dual operating windows to a single evening schedule.

The lounge now operates daily from 5 pm to 2 am, replacing its earlier extended hours that included morning access.

Previously, the lounge offered breakfast service with morning opening times that supported early departures and Oneworld connections.

The removal of the morning session has eliminated access for passengers flying on early departures operated by partner airlines.

The revised schedule reduces total daily operating hours significantly and concentrates all services into a single evening and late-night window.

Terminal Alternatives

Passengers departing during morning hours now rely on alternative lounges at Terminal 1. Options include the Qantas International Business Lounge, which operates limited morning sessions on select days, and the British Airways lounge, which remains restricted to afternoon operations, Mainly Miles flagged.

On days when neither lounge is open, passengers must use third-party facilities such as SATS Premier Lounge or Marhaba Lounge. These alternatives offer basic services but do not match the premium dining experience of the Qatar Airways facility.

Qatar Airways is tentatively expected to restore its full schedule, including morning operations, by mid-2026, depending on regional stability and operational recovery. Until then, the evening-only lounge model is likely to remain in place.
