Royal Caribbean revealed the first details of its Discovery-class ships through a recent SEC filing.

According the company’s recent quarterly filings, the vessels in the new series will carry up 4,300 passengers atdouble occupancy.

The company also revealed delivery dates for the vessels, which are expected to enter service in late 2029 and in the second quarter of 2032.

Set to be built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, the Discovery-class ships were ordered in January 2026.

At the time, the company declined to share any specifications of the prototype, with President and CEO Michael Bayley saying that it was not “planning on saying much about it … in the next couple of months.”

He added that the new class is going to be a “game changer,” comparing it to the Icon series, which he said “was introduced and kind of changed the game.”

“From the business perspective, we are really excited with the innovation, creativity, and the kind of product that we’ve now created with Discovery.”

Bayley also denied what he called assumptions in social media that claimed the new ships had a comparable size and were designed to replace the fleet’s smallest vessels.

In addition to the two Discovery-class ships, and a number of Icon-class ships, Royal Caribbean’s current orderbook includes an additional Oasis-class ship.

Under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, the 5,700-passenger ship is set to be delivered in mid-2028.

Beginning with the new Legend of the Seas this summer, the company is also welcoming five additional Icon-class ships to its fleet between 2026 and 2030.

Other ships on order for the Royal Caribbean Group include the Celebrity Xcite, which is set to enter service for Celebrity Cruises in late 2028.

The premium brand is also set to take delivery of 20 vessels for its new fleet of riverboats between 2027 and 2028.
