Visitors to the Acropolis can now enjoy unobstructed views of the Parthenon, as the scaffolding that has surrounded the western facade of the ancient temple for decades has been removed.
According to state broadcaster ERT, the removal may be temporary, as maintenance and restoration works on the 2,500-year-old monument are ongoing. However, future interventions are expected to employ smaller, more flexible structures that will not obscure entire sides of the Parthenon.
The removal marks a significant moment in the decades-long restoration project of the ancient structure on the Acropolis.
