Just like so many families this summer, Sesame Street is heading out on an epic road trip across America. The multi-city tour kicks off on July 27, 2025, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In fact, Cookie Monster will be there to serve as the Grand Marshal of the Brickyard 400, the NASCAR Cup Series.
Professional driver Bubba Wallace even joined Cookie in a special video to make the official announcement. In the video, Wallace exclaims, “I love road trips!”
To which Cookie responds, “Oh, you coming with us! Now, does your car have room for a couple of monsters, a fairy, a few chickens, a Big Bird, and a Snuffleupagus?”
Bubba does think it might be a tough fit.
All About ‘Sesame Street’s’ Road Trip Across America
According to a news release from Sesame Workshop, the goal of the road trip is to share a message that, “no matter who you are or where you live, Sesame Street is for you.” They’re planning to showcase all of the ways both Sesame Street and Sesame Workshop help “children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.”
Sesame Street has been a fixture of children’s television since 1969.
“For over 55 years, Sesame Street has been reaching and teaching children across America,” Aaron Bisman, Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing, Sesame Workshop, says in a news release. “What better way to extend the laughter and learning than by bringing Sesame Street to where our young fans are—their hometowns? This summer, families will experience the joy of Sesame Street at state fairs, baseball games, and so much more.”
Sesame Street Road Trip Across America is a kick-off to Sesame Street‘s 56th season on Netflix and PBS KIDS later this year. It comes at a time when PBS is facing major funding cuts from the federal government. The show has been on PBS since its debut.
