SAN FRANCISCO— United Airlines (UA) has restricted access to its Polaris Lounges across major US airports, removing eligibility for Singapore Airlines (SQ) and most Star Alliance partners. The policy change took effect on April 14, 2026, and significantly narrows access to one of the airline industry’s most premium lounge networks.
The updated rules reshape long-standing alliance benefits at key US gateways, including San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
United Polaris Access Restriction
United has revised its Polaris Lounge eligibility framework to restrict entry primarily to passengers flying with Air New Zealand (NZ), All Nippon Airways (NH), and Lufthansa Group carriers. Other Star Alliance members, including Singapore Airlines, are no longer included under the updated policy.
Previously, long-haul First and Business Class passengers on Star Alliance flights could access Polaris Lounges regardless of operating carrier. The revised structure removes that broader entitlement and directs excluded passengers to United Club facilities or partner-arranged lounges.
The airline has not changed eligibility for its own United Polaris Business Class passengers, who retain full access to the lounge network across international departures, Mile Lion flagged.
