TUI Cruises promoted Kira Schikorr to captain of the Mein Schiff 6, the company announced in a social media update.
According to the cruise line, she joined the fleet in 2017 as an officer before becoming staff captain in 2022 onboard the Mein Schiff 2.
Schikorr later joined the Mein Schiff 7, which was delivered to TUI Cruises in mid-2024, before being promoted to captain earlier this month.
According to Crew Center, Schikorr became the first female captain in the company’s eight-ship fleet.
In her debut as master, she will command the Mein Schiff 6 during its winter season in Southeast Asia and the Far East.
Currently sailing from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre, the 2017-built vessel is offering a series of 14-night cruises to Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Set to be operated through early March, the itineraries feature visits to a wide range of destinations, such as Port Klang, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Koh Samui.
The 2,534-passenger ship is then set to reposition to Hong Kong for spring cruises to the Far East that sail to Japan, South Korea, China and more.
In late April, the Mein Schiff 6 kicks off a 55-night repositioning voyage to Europe that sails between Hong Kong and Spain via the Indian Ocean, Africa and the Atlantic.
The unique itinerary sails to nearly 20 destinations across both regions before arriving in Palma de Mallorca in late June.
Highlights of the cruise include three-day visits to Singapore and Cape Town, as well as overnight stays in Bangkok and Walvis Bay.
The Mein Schiff 6 is then set to kick off a summer season in Western Europe and the Western Mediterranean.
Starting in July, the deployment features cruises departing from the Portuguese port of Porto, as well as Palma de Mallorca.
