CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA) will deploy its latest ‘Polaris 2.0’ Business Class product on all flights between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) starting August 2026.
The move will make Singapore one of the first international markets to receive the airline’s full premium cabin rollout across every scheduled frequency.
The Chicago-based carrier currently operates two daily nonstop services between Singapore and San Francisco using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
While one daily flight already features the new Polaris 2.0 cabin, the second frequency has continued using the older Polaris layout. That will change from August 2, when all 14 weekly flights on the route transition to the upgraded interiors.

United’s Polaris Expansion
United introduced the new Polaris 2.0 cabin earlier this year as part of its wider Boeing 787-9 interior modernization strategy. The airline has steadily expanded deployment of the product as additional aircraft enter service.
Beginning August 2, both daily Singapore departures, UA2 and UA28, will operate with the upgraded cabin. The return service from San Francisco, UA29, will receive the new product one day earlier on August 1.
The route schedule includes a morning departure from Singapore at 8:45 AM and an evening departure at 8:35 PM. Both services operate nonstop to San Francisco with a flight time of approximately 15 hours and 45 minutes.
United’s new-generation Boeing 787-9 aircraft feature 64 Polaris Business Class seats, including eight premium Studio Suites positioned at the front of the cabin.
The rollout will significantly increase the availability of the upgraded product for travelers flying between Southeast Asia and the US West Coast.

United’s Competitors on Premium Products
The expansion strengthens United’s position against Singapore Airlines (SQ) on one of the world’s most competitive long-haul routes.
From August, United will offer 1,792 Polaris Business Class seats per week between Singapore and San Francisco.
That figure exceeds Singapore Airlines’ weekly Business Class capacity of 1,526 seats on the same route. The capacity advantage is notable because US carriers have traditionally trailed Asian airlines in premium product offerings on ultra-long-haul services.
United’s latest cabin also introduces several features not currently available on Singapore Airlines’ existing Business Class product to San Francisco.
These include sliding privacy doors, wireless charging pads, Bluetooth audio connectivity, upgraded 4K entertainment screens, and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi.
The airline’s flagship Studio Suites further enhance the experience with larger 27-inch OLED screens, companion dining space, and upgraded onboard dining options. The suites are sold as premium add-ons above standard Polaris fares.
Singapore Airlines is expected to introduce its own next-generation Business Class cabin in 2027. Until then, United is likely to maintain a competitive advantage in terms of onboard hardware and in-flight technology on the Singapore-San Francisco corridor.

United’s Fleet Modernization
United continues expanding its fleet of Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with the airline’s new ‘Elevated’ interiors. The carrier currently has four upgraded Dreamliners in service, while additional deliveries are scheduled at a rate of roughly one aircraft per month.
Beyond Singapore, the new cabins are also appearing on major international routes, including San Francisco to London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
United plans to accelerate the rollout as more aircraft join the fleet over the next several years.
The rapid deployment reflects growing competition among international airlines for premium long-haul travelers.
Airlines are increasingly investing in enhanced privacy, larger entertainment systems, and faster onboard connectivity as passenger expectations continue evolving.
